Report Cards

Hawthorn District 73 uses the PowerSchool Parent Portal to digitally post report cards and progress reports for both middle and elementary school families. This secure portal provides timely access to current and past report cards, making it easy for parents and guardians to stay informed. Additionally, online report cards are environmentally friendly.

Purpose of Report Cards: Report cards communicate student progress toward mastering learning standards. They are organized by grade level bands (Preschool, Grades K-2, Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8), and separate academic achievement from work habits, ensuring a clear understanding of student performance.

Midterm Reports: Elementary students receiving intervention support and services receive midterm reports at the midpoint of each academic trimester. These reports, though narrower in scope, offer a snapshot of student progress.

Multiple Forms of Communication: Report cards and midterm reports are just one method of sharing student progress with families. Additional information is communicated through conferences, phone calls, emails, feedback on assessments and assignments, and standardized assessment reports.

Middle School GPA and Awards: Middle school students’ GPA is calculated each trimester, including all classes on their schedule. Parents/Guardians can access their child’s GPA via PowerSchool.

  • Honor Roll: Awarded to students with a GPA of 3.0-3.49.
  • High Honor Roll: Awarded to students with a GPA of 3.5-4.0.
  • Hawthorn Academic Award: Earned by 8th-grade students maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout 7th and 8th grades.
  • Presidential Award: Earned by 8th-grade students maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout 7th and 8th grades.
