Apsen Updates April 6, 2018

PARCC TESTING CONTINUES

PARCC testing has begun for 3rd grade and will continue until next Thursday, April 12.  PARCC make up testing will take place from 4/16 – 4/20.  We are looking forward to great results!

PE CLASSES

Aspen’s PE classes just finished their gymnastics unit.  Students had a great time jumping, doing balance beam, parallel bars, swinging rope, climbing rope, tumbling, and many other fun activities.  Pictures from some of our PE classes have been featured on our morning broadcast – check it out on our website!

HIGH SCHOOL VIPS VISIT 5th GRADERS

The Vernon Hills High School VIPs came and visited our 5th grade classes and performed skits and then broke out into discussion groups with them.  Our 5th graders enjoyed the skits and the break out session with the high school students, some of which were former Aspen students!

GIRL SCOUT TROOP SPONSORS “BIRTHDAY IN A BAG”

Some of our students who belong to Girl Scout Troop 45456 collected donations to help less fortunate children celebrate their birthday.  They collected supplies such as gift bags, boxed cake mixes, canned frosting, disposable cake or cupcake pans, candles, small gifts for children ages 1-10, and balloons, sprinkles, party hats, plates and napkins.  The donations were taken to a food pantry and given to local families during their child’s birth month.  The troop collected twice as much as they had hoped.  Thanks to everyone who participated!

Don’t forget to return to school the following:

  • signed report card envelopes
  • signed permission form and $9.50 for roller skating in PE (for grades 2-5 only)
  • signed permission forms and money for upcoming field trips (grades K, 2, 3, 4, & 5)
