Aspen Updates April 27, 2018

FIELD DAY IS COMING!

May 24th has been set aside for Aspen’s Field Day this year.  All grades will participate.  We are looking for parent volunteers to help run stations, so if you are interested in volunteering your time on this fun day, please email Courtney Lord, one of our PE teachers, at lordc@hawthorn73.org.  We will have 2 sessions to choose from, and we will be providing our volunteers with lunch!  We’d love your help and are looking forward to a great day.  There will be no rain make up day – if it is raining on May 24, we will have a modified Field Day indoors.

REGISTRATION FOR GRADES 1-5 MAILED HOME

We are mailing home the registration information for next school year on Friday, April 27.  You should be receiving this packet of information in the US mail early next week.  PLEASE be sure and read through the information, complete the online portion via the PowerSchool Parent Portal, or if you are leaving the district, please send back the paper form with the NOT RETURNING box checked and with your signature and date.  Please register by May 18.  Students will not be placed in a class or on a bus route until online registration is complete.  Failure to do so will result in your student being dropped from enrollment.  If you have any questions, please contact the District Office at 847-990-4200.

OPEN HOUSE/MUSIC PROGRAM

You are cordially invited to attend Aspen’s Open House/Music Program on Tuesday, May 1 for grades K, 1 and 2, and Thursday, May 3 for grades 3, 4 & 5.  Doors open both days at 6:25.  Please see the invitation that was sent home for specific information.  We welcome you to come and celebrate your child’s accomplishments in the classroom as well as enjoy a musical program.  We are so proud of all of our students’ achievements and look forward to celebrating them with you.

MID-TERMS GO HOME

Believe it or not, we only have about 5 more weeks left of school.  That means we have already past the middle of this final trimester, which also means that mid term reports will be sent home with students on Wednesday, May 2.  We are encouraging students to stay determined and finish strong!

FIREMAN TONY WILL BE VISITNG 4th GRADE

Fireman Tony will be coming with the Smoke Trailer to teach our 4th grade class on Thursday, May 3.  Our students will be educated on how to exit a burning building.  We are very grateful for our relationship with Countryside Fire Department who has provided informative programs to our schools for many years.

STAFF APPRECIATION

Attention Aspen Parents!  The PTO needs your help to support the upcoming Staff Appreciation Week!  The deadline has been extended and they are still accepting donations. Please consider donating!
