Aspen Updates October 16, 2015

Early Release – October 20th
October 20th is an early release day for students.  Aspen hours for early release are 7:55-11:25.  Early release days will provide staff the opportunity to participate in professional development focused on improving instruction. Staff will also participate in activities designed to address the strategic plan and school improvement goals.  On October 20th staff at Aspen will be analyzing reading data, writing grade level goals, and creating action plans to ensure all students meet reading growth targets.  Lunch times will be figured into the schedule so please be sure to send your child with a lunch or check out the menu to see what your child might like to order.
All students will be receiving mid-term reports on October 19th.  Report envelopes will include an update about the classroom performance, MAP testing reports and information from the district including an update about food service accounts.  Please be sure to check this information and return your child’s envelope to their teacher.
Bus Evacuation Drills
All students will participate in bus evacuation drills during PE classes on October 22nd.  These drills are part of an annual requirement for all students.  PE teachers will work with the students to discuss appropriate bus behaviors and what to do in case of an emergency.
October Birthday Breakfast
Any student with a birthday in October has been invited to the monthly Birthday Breakfast with Mr. Fredricksen.  Birthday Breakfast begins at 8:00 AM.  Please be sure you have provided your RSVP so we have an accurate account of the number of children who will be attending the breakfast.
