Celebrating Reading at Aspen

Planned activities have been scheduled for all Aspen students to help celebrate all the reading that has taken place all year.  On Tuesday, a Reading Celebration video will be played in each classroom right after morning announcements.  Also starting May 28, our PE teachers will do an activity outside in the “Grassy Grove” during PE.  Individual classrooms will take an extra 10 minutes of recess with their class.  In Art classes, students will have 10 minutes to draw/color a bookmark. And finally, everyday at the end of the school day next week, Mr. Fredricksen will be sitting in an eagle’s nest next to Regal the Eagle.

Nora friends attending assembly

Nora Friends Shine at Aspen Assembly

Nora friends were the central focus of yesterday’s assembly at Aspen Elementary. The event was a culmination of activities throughout the year in which students got to build friendships with Nora friends. In a video, students expressed how much they learned through their friendships and how they came to understand that our differences make us special and connect us in a special way. Since its founding in 2016, The Nora Project, a non-profit organization, has grown from six classrooms to eighty-five, with teachers challenging students to practice empathy, exercise moral courage, and recognize the fundamental truth that as human beings, we are all more alike than different.

Thank you, Volunteers!

We couldn’t ask for better volunteers! From working in the workroom by cutting, pasting, tracing, to copying, laminating, helping in the library, helping in the classroom, Choice Time, helping serve in the lounge and at the Conference dinners, and a million other things – our volunteers do it all!  We most certainly couldn’t do what we do without YOU!  Thank you for your tireless service and constant support!  WE APPRECIATE YOU!  We have a tiny token of our appreciation in the office for you.  If you have volunteered at all this year, please come in and get your gift and allow us to thank you in person for all that you have done this year!
